According to the General Services Administration, category management is an approach the federal government is applying to buy smarter and more like a single enterprise. Since last October, the Office of Management and Budget has proposed rule after rule, and guidance after guidance. Collectively, they will shape the way government handles shared services, cybersecurity, legacy IT, mobile devices, software, and laptop and desktop computers.
